Jayam Ravi is busy juggling many projects, including Thani Orvan, with Nayanthara; Romeo Juliet with Hansika; and a yet to be titled film with Suraaj. The movie which went on the floors recently marks Anjali’s return to Tamil after her controversial exit from the scene. Ravi has a double role in the flick, and the filmmakers were looking out for a leading heroine for the urban portions, while Anjali will figure in the rural flashback.
Though Trisha was seriously considered for the role, inside sources say that the actress had already teamed up twice with Ravi and one of their films, Bhoologam, was yet to hit the cinema halls. They therefore wanted a fresh pair. Reportedly, Kajal Agarwal was approached and much to their shock, the Bollywood-bound actress quoted a bomb as remuneration.
If production sources are to be believed, the Thuppaki star demanded close to Rs 1.5 crores as a package deal, inclusive of her staff. It seems she was not willing to budge an inch despite a few attempts to negotiate by the producers. Sources say that they are in two minds whether to bring Kajal on board for that price. “Despite the fact that Kajal does not have a single film in Tamil and hardly anything in Tollywood, we were surprised that she was acting so pricey,” commented a production source.
