Antaram is that which lies Within . Internalised. Intrinsic.
It is mystique, feminine manifestations or attributes.
Roopantaram is manifestation of that feminine power.
It explores the distance between form and psyche.
Antaram is jointly produced by Krithika Subrahmanian of Namaargam Dance Company and Suhasini Mani Ratnam of Talent South.
It is a collaboration out of a true love of the arts.Classical Dance, Music,Theatre andTechnology come alive in a collage onstage in this presentation.
Vasavi, Kannagi and Andal – legendary native women from the South of India who attasined divinity, aptly infuse divinity in their character within( Antaram ) .
In exploring their life story the attributes of Devi or the powerful divine feminine form is revealed. Rhamba emerges as the culmination of feminine aspirations in liberation.
Vasavi of Telengana is danced in Kuchipudi by Yamini Reddy. Gnanashakti is manifest as she is an intellectual social relevance for knowledge and grow the mind by renouncing the body .
Kannagi is danced in Mohiniattam by Gopika Varma. Full of Valour, Veeram she embodies the Kriya Shakti or capacity to Act purposefully with dynamism -physical energy to accomplish and prove . She is revered as Attukal Bhagavathi Amman of Kerala
Andal of Tamil Nadu is performed by Krithika Subrahmanian in Bharatanatyam. Ichha shakti or the capacity to envision and achieve the ideal is manifest. Bhakti Shringara or devoted love, characterises this manifestation of Bhudevi. A source of rich fullness in all aspects enriching life itself.
Rhamba entombed in Karnataka is enacted by Suhasini Maniratnam. As the consummate woman she embodies the dynamism and strength of these iconic characters. Her theatrical presentation of poetry, song and script will weave through the production and translate as the contemporary embodiment of Shakti, the universal energy . She weaves the characters from history with the present day women.
ANTARAM is technically supervised by Mr. Jayendra of Real Image. While the musical compositions for dance are by stalwarts like Mr. O S Arun, Mr Rajkumar Bharathi the music for theatricals are by A R Rehman.Stalwarts of Classical dance PadmaBhushan.RajaRadha Reddy,Padmashri Prof Sudharani Raghupathy and Dr.Vyjayanthimala Bali have mentored the production and contributed Valuable inputs.
ANTARAM will be an evening which promises packed action that would indeed bring people in the audience and the dance forms closer !!!
